After nearly a decade im publishing
I started this novel in several revisions over the last decade. During my time serving with the Intruder groups over the years I felt there was just too much history and story arcs that could have made for a great movie. For the last two years I was in negotiations with making a CGI film of these stories however I just never could get enough voice actors so the animation would come out like a comic or text based cartoon which I just found corny. A few online based names are the same but names have been changed in the event people still use these names and of course real names are changed for privacy. Being some of these stories where over ten years ago my memory of their personalities might be slightly incorrect. I also have infused people together to avoid the novel from having 200 characters. We operated since 2004 and had well over 200 people in and out of the group which is nearly impossible to track now. A good example of this is Fred which is envisioned as Geoff. To compress certain times some characters inspired by real people who never actually interacted with each other. If you are one of the people I was inspired by do not take your character or fate personally I took a rough idea of who you where and built a character around it. If you have traits that you never had back then its to add flavor and depth to the story.
In the era's many of these stories are based on there was little interest in LGBT which kept many of the characters from "coming out". I have tried to include the modern day corrections to those who are still alive. Using Fred as an example again, Geoff is gay however Fred was not known to be. Since he has passed away I am not trying disrespect him being he was straight but I felt being gay would add to his comic humor and wittering. Geoff is out there and does not care what people think which at the core is who Fred was.
Some have asked, why did you not add (insert name here)? I either forgot what they are like or they just not get picked for the position i needed. I tried to keep their roles similar to what they did. The real Gabe handled our technical aspects in the early 2000's which is why hes engineering on the Stealth Intruder. I consider these similar roles.
I have held back making anything public because frankly I have read only a handful of books and can write a TV script better than I can write a novel. I had to read many novels to grasp how a book describes events vs how a TV script does. My main inspiration was a youtuber named Oxhorn who told Fallout and Fallout 2 as a story. I liked how he did conversations which is why my conversations are unlike most novels. My focus on descriptiveness came from the novel Tarken of which was the most recent novel I have read.
The real person behind the character "Cora" was the first person to read this draft in nearly 6 years and her feedback without having any of the history knowledge some people do of Intruder events she enjoyed the novel enough to want to read more. That pushed me to finally make each redesigned chapter public. I welcome feedback just remember I have put years into this and I am not a heavy novel reader. I have done the best with what I know and translating TV scripts to a novelization.
Well enough of my nervous rambling, for those who give it a chance I hope you enjoy.
